The Baby Bombers Fall Short
The 2018 New York Yankees gave it a good run, led by their two sluggers Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, but fell short in seven hard-fought games to the St. Louis Cardinals.
They swept the Houston Astros in the ALDS, while they won a tough American League Championship Series over the Cleveland Indians, prevailing in seven. The Cardinals reached the Fall Classic on quite a miracle run, winning a one-game wildcard playoff against the Atlanta Braves, swept their rival Chicago Cubs in the NLDS, while winning a seven-game series over the Los Angeles Dodgers. If you didn't notice already, both LCS & World Series went 7 games.
Mike Matheny would win N.L. Manager of the Year, which is funny because in reality he was fired around the All-Star Break by the Cards.
Stanton and Judge would at least go down in history, becoming the first two teammates to hit at least 60 home runs each in the same season; Judge hit 63, while Stanton hit 61.
