Even though the score & box score don't show it, the Dodgers were well on their way to a fifth straight victory, the tone and lead was the Dodgers, until the bottom of the eighth. Deacon Scott hit a leadoff double, which LaSorda decided to go with Rick Rhoden out of the bullpen. With a man on third, and one out -- Sam Rice hit an RBI single & stole second, LaSorda had Rhoden intentionally walk Goose Goslin with two outs. Ossie Bluege would hit the go-ahead two-run double to score in Sam Rice & Goose Goslin.
