WP- Hough (1-1)
LP- Marberry (0-2)

Back to back walk-off wins for the 1976 Dodgers over the struggling Washington Senators, this time the hero was Steve Garvey with a two-run homer off of Firpo Marberry, who also ends up the scapegoat for the second consecutive game. Bill Buckner, the hero who delivered the game-winning hit in Game 1, hit a two-run HR as well.

Walter Johnson's quest for a 4-0 start for the Senators was spoiled, even though he pitched nine solid innings, striking out 8 Dodgers, while only allowing six hits & two walks. The win places the Dodgers currently in third behind (3.5 games out of first) the 1977 Philadelphia Phillies (1st) and 1984 Detroit Tigers (2nd).

The Red Sox would have first & third loaded with one out, when J.D. Drew hit into a double-play to end the threat.

INJURIES: Johnny McCarthy (NYG) - 6 games.

The Giants felt they gave up Game 1 in their extra-innngs loss to Philadelphia, so when they started off 4-0 after two innings, it looked as if they were going to avenge their loss -- the Phillies had other ideas. John Kruk was raking it with a 3-for-4 performance that included a HR, two doubles, 3 RBI & 3 runs, Todd Pratt added a pinch-hit two-run triple for insurance during the 7th. The Giants' star first baseman, Johnny McCarthy got injured on the last play of the game while sliding into second base.
