Storm Davis left the game with a 3-2 lead of the White Sox, when Reb Russell & Ray Schalk decided to take advantage of the O's Sammy Stewart for three runs during the top of the 6th -- Russell (a reliever playing DH) had his 2nd triple in two days, as Schalk hit a two-run HR, going 3-for-5 for the day. Chick Gandil keeps pulling up hits with 3 for the day as well.

Rafael Palmeiro hit a two-run HR (his 8th HR) during the top of the first inning , but it wasn't enough as the Browns score five runs on good timely hitting -- a change in the batting order for Don Gutteridge is what he needed as he went 3-for-4 with an RBI & steal in the 6th spot (compared to lead-off) for St. Louis.

A scoreless game until the top of the 7th, when Rip Collins hit a solo HR off of Sandy Koufax. The game would break wide open when Larry Sherry loaded the bases & gave up a Grand Slam to Bill DeLancey. Paul Dean made his first win, a great one with a two-hit shutout of the Dodgers, striking out four.

A solo HR by Hack Wilson & a two-run triple by Kiki Cuyler was the brunt of the five-run explosion that happened after the 7 Inning stretch -- after was started off as a quiet game for both sides. Guy Bush has now lowered his ERA to 0.89 (20 K's) in 31 2/3 innings.
