|My custom-made Tram & Lou Baseball card.|
The Detroit Tigers currently are 61-33 through 94 games & are in the middle of a 8-game winning streak, while leading the American League; Baltimore trails by 5 games in second place.
This all while juggling my rotation that got a bit out of order, due to me not fixing my rotation before a road series -- I currently took 5 out of 6 from seventh-place Boston.
Our team ranks #1 in pitching in the Majors with a 2.92 team ERA, while ranking 5th in batting average (.257) -- Our team also ranks near the top in fielding, and tied for first in double-plays (It does help that I have the best double play combination in MLB history with Alan Trammell and Lou Whitaker).
The league is also only batting .236 against us, while only scoring 304 runs against us -- both league bests, while we support a +119 run differential right now.
We are also second in HR with 108 -- led by Lance Parrish (19), Jason Thompson (18) & Ben Oglivie (17).
Lance Parrish has been this team's leader, and has my vote for A.L. MVP -- batting .289, 19 HR & 60 RBI through 93 games (77 games played). Bill Madlock leads the team in batting average (.304), hits (105) and doubles (23), while he has 13 HR, 45 RBI & 13 steals. Jason Thompson started off the season sluggish, but has now lifted his batting average up to .254 -- must be batting over .300 over the last 40 games or so!
The team has also got good production from Kirk Gibson, Howard Johnson, George Wright, Ron LeFlore, Trammell & Whitaker.
The 'Big Three' - Joaquin Andujar (11-5, 2.54 ERA), Mario Soto (10-3, 2.98 ERA) and Dan Petry (13-4, 3.34 ERA) have slowed down a bit from their red-hot start, but have been the best top three pitchers for any rotation out there.
The Tigers are not shooting low, we are shooting high, we now not only think that we can win the American League Pennant, but we may walk away with the title, if all of this keeps up... the stats that we have compiled, certainly show that we are capable of winning the World Series.
