Dwyer, Orioles Upset 12' Red Sox!

Scott McGregor held the Giants in check for seven innings, as the Orioles had some key hits in the late innings, including Jim Dwyer's walk-off homer off Smokey Joe Wood. Tippy Martinez gets the win for Baltimore, after blowing the save in the 9th.

Dizzy Dean, once again dominates, as he lands his 3rd shutout performance in five starts, allowing only two hits, while striking out seven Orioles. Spud Davis went 2-for-4 with a HR, 2B & 2 RBI.

David Cone had 8 strikeouts, Darryl Strawberry hits a two-run HR, as Jeter, O'Neill & Tino Martinez all added two RBI's each, as the Yankees manhandle Tom Seaver (8 ER's in 4 IP) & the Mets.

The Royals hung around in this one, but Bill Dahlen's three runs, three singles & three steals & John Dunn's 3-for-3 performance, 2B, 2 RBI & steal -- with Christy Mathewson pitching strong for his third complete game was too much for the Royals, as K.C. loses their 5th straight.

The Expos had a 2-1 lead entering the 9th, as Jeff Reardon blown another save. The Red Sox who have also has had issues with blown save opportunities, decided to keep their starting pitcher David Ferriss in the game. Ferriss would lose the game on a walk-off single by Mike Phillips (who was previously, 1-for-9 this season).

For the Cards, it was all about Enos Slaghter -- 2-for-4, 2 HR's & 5 RBI. The Cards stand alone in first place in the Stars II / Musial Division.

The Giants took it to Don Drysdale & the Dodgers early, with 8 runs in the 2nd inning. Larry Doyle went 3-for-5, 2 RBI, 3 runs & 2 steals for the Giants, as Fred Merkle stole a record-tying 3 steals, along with 3 hits & 2 RBI's of his own.
